Six members of the FACES Foundation team recently traveled to Kaiser’s national headquarters in Oakland, CA, to recieve a prestigious David Lawrence Community Service Award. Dr. Thomas Albert, Tammy Berks, Dr. Christina Ruybalid, Dr. Jacob Reiss and Dr. Dana Smith accepted the award on behalf of the whole FACES team.
The David Lawrence Community Service Award is given to honor people within Kaiser who have committed themselves to community efforts outside of their regular Kaiser work. This is the first year they have honored activies that involve international efforts – FACES was one of two groups that were awarded for excellence in international community service work.
Kaiser’s David Lawrence Community Service Award is named in honor of Dr. David Lawrence, former CEO of Kaiser Permanente and a strong advocate of improving health. According to Kaiser, the awards are given to “recognize individuals and groups that have demonstrated extraordinary efforts to improve the health of our communities. The DLCSA aims to honor exemplary service and also to inspire others toward community service.”
The FACES team is honored to recieve this prestigious award. The DLCSA includes a $10,000 grant for FACES Foundation.
