FACES to be Recognized for Humanitarian Service

FACES Foundation recently received word that they will be recognized by the Regional Government of Lambayeque, Peru, for excellence in humanitarian service because of their work in treating indigent cleft lip and palate patients from all around northern Peru. In July 2012, Dr. Tom Albert, FACES Founder, Leah Olson, FACES Executive Director, and Delia Delgado, FACES Peruvian Patient Coordinator, met with Humberto Acuna Peralta, the President of Lambayeque Region. They discussed the work that FACES has done in the area for the past three years, and will continue to do for years to come. The President was interested in ways that FACES could be more integrated with the government and all governmental hospitals in the region. Mr. Acuna thanked the team for their service and care of the children of northern Peru.

Because of this work, FACES is being honored on December 3rd, 2012, at a special banquet held by the government. Dr. Tom Albert, Leah Olson and Delia Delgado will be in attendance, along with Teresa Bancayan of the Lambayeque Lions Club, and several members of Lions Clubs from the Portland-metropolitan area.

FACES is grateful to receive this honor from the government and excited to continue to build long-term projects and partnerships between Peru and Oregon.
