Students at West Sylvan Middle School in Portland, OR hosted a “Black and White” dance this weekend to raise awareness and funds for the children in Peru who benefit from FACES surgeries. They had a turnout of over 250 students, and surpassed their goal 5 times over, raising $1100!
Student Claudia Rader, member of the dance committee and daughter of FACES Nurse Jesse Rader, approached her principal last Fall to propose the idea of a fundraising dance. Before long, the whole school became enthused! Their fundraising efforts will cover the cost of surgery for 5 children with cleft lips and / or palates. Our warmest thanks to the students for their ambition, organization, and compassion.
