A typical mission trip in Peru
The FACES team has been conducting surgical campaigns in Northern Peru for 15 years. The team operates at a public hospital by invitation of Peru's Ministry of Health. The patients are screened by FACES Surgeons and local providers prior to the arrival of the full team. The majority of the patients are under 5 years old.
The team will operate for 5-6 consecutive days in 2-3 operating rooms.
Airfare to and from Chiclayo, Peru is the responsibility of the team member. The roundtrip flight from PDX to CIX averages $1500. All volunteers should plan to arrive with FACES so the team can pass through customs together with the medical supplies. Any personal travel should be done after the campaign.
All team members will be asked to submit $200 to help cover hotel and food expenses. Nurses and speech language pathologists qualify for $500 reimbursement towards airfare.
Throughout the year, team members may fundraise for their expenses and be directed towards grant opportunities.
The team will operate for 5-6 consecutive days in 2-3 operating rooms.
