FACES meets with Spinners

Last Month, FACES Nurses met with the NwRSA, the Northwest Regional Spinners Association.

Morgan Luke and Tracey Gunderson, two recovery room nurses who are long-time FACES volunteers, visited with the talented and thoughtful women of the NwRSA.

Our nurses learned all about fibers and spinning yarn. Then they shared the story of FACES, telling them of the patients in Peru and the use of blankets during surgical recovery.

Impressed by the impact of the work, the spinners of the NwRSA are planning to make and donate blankets, hats and maybe even some sweaters for the patients of the next surgical campaign. We are delighted at their enthusiasm and feel lucky to have connected with this group.

Congratulations to the Raffle Winner!

We are thrilled to announce that Marianne Mandry of Terrebonne, Oregon is the lucky winner of the Maui Vacation package! Her ticket was drawn the night of the benefit auction on October 10th, 2016 at Andina Restaurant.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s raffle! Together, we raised $10,000 for FACES Foundation. The team will be traveling to Peru in a few short weeks for the patient screenings. These funds will directly benefit children born with cleft lips and palates who, without international medical campaigns, would have no access to healthcare.

Enjoy the sun for all of us, Marianne!

Patient Evaluations in November

In preparation for the surgical campaign, FACES team members will travel to Chiclayo, Peru for patient evaluations. The screening will take place at the Belen Hospital on Sunday, November 13th, 2016. The surgeries are scheduled for mid January, 2017.

FACES Benefit Auction right around the corner

On Monday, October 10th, the generous Andina Restaurant will be hosting the annual Benefit Auction to raise funds for surgeries for under-served children in Peru. The FACES medical team will be returning to Lambayeque for patient screenings this November.

The dinner will be a culinary delight, prepared by Chef Yen Tejada (see bio here) and presented by owner Doris Platt. Their Peruvian heritage and love of homeland enhance the gastronomic experience and remind diners they are supporting a wonderful cause for a wonderful people.
