Tom

Dr. Tom Albert is a professor at Oregon Health Sciences University in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well a Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery in Portland, Oregon. He was involved in an extensive medical education effort concerning cleft care with Project Hope in China from 1983-1993 and has continued to be involved independently since then. His interest has been to develop  ways to extend truly comprehensive cleft care beyond surgery alone to difficult to reach populations.

kjensen-photoKelly T. Jensen, MBA. Management Consultant in healthcare operations and information systems. As a management consultant for 30+ years, Kelly assists organizations to improve strategy and operations.  He brings to FACES business experience from Kaiser Permanente, Baxter Healthcare, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and state and federal agencies. As a FACES board member, he guides long term planning, serves as an interpreter on surgical trips, and builds community relations in Peru and the U.S.

Dr. Sharon Higgins has served as President of Northwest Permanente, P.C., and Executive Medical Director of Kaiser Permanente Northwest.  Prior to this, she served as Chief of Otolaryngology from 1987 to 1999, Vice President and Operations Medical Director for Specialty Care from 1999 to 2005, and most recently as Assistant Medical Director for Business Affairs.

Dr. Dana Smith is a Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Northwest Permanente P.C. and currently directs the FACES Cleft Surgery Team for Peru.  In 2015, he traveled to Peru upon invitation to present at an International Plastic Surgery Conference, where he gained the respect of his colleagues in Peru through excellent medical research presented in excellent Spanish.

Dr. Lourdes Quintanilla-Dieck began her medical education in In Monterrey, Mexico and continued her specialization at Mass Eye and Ear (Massachusettes), OHSU (Oregon) and Vanderbilt (Tennessee). She has traveled to Peru with the surgical team on multiple occasions and currently leads FACES’ Speech Therapy program.

Anna Garwood collaborated with FACES Foundation while serving as the Latin America Program Manager of Green Empowerment. Of her involvement, she states, “I met the FACES team and saw not only their dedication to making profound changes for individual children, but also their commitment to broader public health. I am excited to contribute my 15 years of non-profit management and program development to the FACES board and continue to stay connected to Peru.”

Nick Wobbrock has a background in engineering, sustainability and business with an emphasis in international development and technology. He works for Blue Forest Conservation, a startup dedicated to financial innovation to fund social and environmental problems.

loyo-myriamDr. Myriam Loyo is an assistant professor at OHSU and a surgeon in the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division. She has accompanied FACES on multiple Surgical Campaigns, assisted in screening trips, and in 2015, presented at the International Plastic Surgery Conference in Lima, Peru.

Her background in community service and social outreach launched the foundation forward in her three years as the FACES’ Executive Director. Inspired by the work of the surgical team, Leah completed her nursing degree at OHSU and now works at a gastrointestinal clinic in Tualatin.

Angela

Angela David  first volunteered with FACES as a medical interpreter in 2013. During college, she spent time in Latin America as an exchange student, where she grew to love the people and their culture.  Angela manages the electronic health record, the social outreach, and the international trips.

Trish Spinar joined the FACES Team in April 2017 as the foundation’s first US Organizational Coordinator. Prior to FACES, she was the assistant to the Operations Medical Director and Vice President for Specialty Care Services at Northwest Permanente P.. Trish is enthusiastic and brings 20+ years in healthcare administration experience to the team.

Delia Delgado Maldonado is FACES’s Peru Patient Coordinator, working with patients, families and partners  in Peru. In addition to working with FACES, she is also an English teacher in Chiclayo, Peru, and studied languages at university.
